On Monday October 15th, 2012 the Catalans will have very present the miserable, cowardly and unjust shooting of President Lluís Companys i Jover, by the Spanish dictatorship of Franco, the heirs of that, today continue to threaten the majority will of the people of Catalonia to establish an independent state.
Judging by the statements that are coming from the powers of the Spanish state, it seems that 72 years later, it is not yet accepted in Madrid that the feelings and the will of the people, expressed in a peaceful and democratic way, it cannot be forcibly subjected.
It's hard to know if one day the Spanish state will override the trial, devoid of any due process, which led President Companys to be executed in the Montjuic Castle, becoming the only president of a democracy in Europe who has been murdered. What we do know is that one of the first thoughts when we achieve independence, which is around the corner, it’ll be for President Companys and his last words: "For Catalunya".
